The New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth

Situation:
A new marketing manager and a new ‘What’s On’ guide was required.

Task:
To produce from a detailed brief,  a brand new concept for the What’s On guid that would engage new audiences and at the same time keep the existing audiences happy. The theatre also wanted a bold and new concept that would bring the Portsmouth area into the guide as a local theatre.

Action:
A new concept was put forward that included image blocks that subtly showed landmark areas of Portsmouth and used a bold new typeface with an older, more traditional typeface that when mixed, worked really well. All the pages were designed to feel organised, but at the same time had a bold fluid feel that could work around the unique image shapes.

Result:
A very well received guide was delivered and the theatre was very happy. Feedback from customers was that it is very different, but very easy to see what is on and how to book. This lead to other work with the theatre.
